Version History
Please note that we send out email notices of program upgrades to registered users
who have provided us with valid email addresses.
______________________________________________________________________
Version 1.08 (June 7 1998)
- Rather than outputting an empty frame when successive identical frames are
discovered, a single-pixel frame is now output. This improves compatibility with
GIF viewers, with only a small increase in file size. A future version of the program
should allow users to remove successive identical frames.
- Added support for reading in GIFs that use ╥Resort to Previous╙ frames.
- Improved user interface to fit in more with MacOS 8. (colour pop-ups stay up
after a single click, and are visually outlined)
Version 1.07 (Nov 29 1997)
- The interface uses the platinum appearance manager when it is available.
- Preferences that are modified via the Compatibility window are remembered
between program sessions. Previously, only preferences modifications that
were done directly were remembered between program sessions.
Version 1.06 (July 24 1997)
- Improved handling of corrupt GIF files.
- Improved handling of low memory conditions.
Version 1.05 (June 5 1997)
- Added a Compatibility window that lets you interactively explore the relationship
between browser compatibility and available compression options. The window is
available by choosing ╥Compatibility..╙ under Preferences / GIF Optimization.
- Added a ╥Range Controls╙ window which allows you to apply an operation to an
entire range of frames. Operations initially available include ╥Scale Durations╙,
which allows you to slow down or speed up a portion of an animation; ╥Remove
comments╙, which removes comments from a portion of an animation; and
╥Deinterlace╙, which deinterlaces a portion of an animation.
- Added a ╥Startup╙ Preferences mode which allows you to turn off the screen depth
warning (which normally shows when the program starts up with the display set
to 256 or fewer colours).
- Added ╥Standardize Comments╙ to the Animation menu, which first removes all
comments and then adds your standard comment.
- Changed the Registration window to show who the registered user of the program is,
if the program is registered.
- Started keeping a version history.
